Micro Links Hair Extensions versus Great Lengths Pre-Bonded Strands

Micro Bead Extensions Also known as Micro Loop or Micro Bead hair extensions.The hair extension is looped through the natural hair and then clamped on to it using pliers and a metal bead.

    Pros
  • Micro beads can be moved up when the slip down the hair shaft.
  • As they can be moved up, they can be a cost effective option.
    Cons
  • Micro links can slip down the hair shaft and need frequent moving up.
  • Hair used is typically low quality and will start to look tacky after a few months.
  • Micro links can be damaging to the hair. The beads (which contain grooves like a screw) are clamped onto the hair shaft with pliers.
  • Metal micro links are particularly bad and damaging to your natural hair. When heat is applied to the metal rings, such as a blow dryer or hair straightener, the metal amplifies the heat on the hair inside it resulting in breakage.

Pre-Bonded Strands

  • Great Lengths Pre bonded individual strands are kinder to the hair than Micro Link systems. Our patented bonds are a unique keratin protein which mimics the human hair's molecular structure. This makes it easier to maintain, less damaging and compatible with elements such as heat, water and sunlight.
  • The bonds are the same colour as the hair and when fused to the natural hair they are barely visible.
  • Great Lengths Classic and Ultrasonic application machines give the versatility of flat and round bonds. Flat bonds give a seamless more fluid result while round bonds achieve more volume.
  • They're applied to your hair via our classic application method or the ultrasonic application method and are not likely to slip down the hair shaft which Micro Links tend to do.
