Great Lengths is built on a combination of advanced technology and artisanal craftsmanship,
brought together through a meticulous, multi-step process.
Every strand passes through a 42-step production cycle, designed to preserve integrity while achieving consistent, natural results.
Our craft process
Hand stitching, Great Lengths
Preparation
The hair is carefully cleaned and prepared, then sewn into alignment to maintain its natural direction (also known as remy).
This ensures the hair behaves as it should — smooth, soft, and tangle-free.
Colour Process
Through a proprietary depigmentation process, the natural colour within the hair is gently removed over an extended period — without disturbing the cuticle. This bath treatment delicately extracts the colour molecule without a drop of bleach. Though arduous, taking up to 28 days to naturally lighten, the result is a strand in perfect health, prepared for colouration.
The hair is then repigmented using textile dyes, allowing colour to penetrate deeply and remain stable over time.
The result is a palette of consistent, fade-resistant shades.
The depigmentation bath gently lifts the natural colour molecule from the hair over an extended period, preserving the cuticle layer entirely. This patience-driven process ensures every strand retains its natural strength, elasticity, and shine — the foundation for hair that performs beautifully over time.
Using textile-grade dyes, colour is deposited deep within the cortex of the hair rather than sitting on the surface. This allows for rich, consistent colour that resists fading from washing, heat styling, and UV exposure — maintaining vibrancy far longer than conventional methods.
Each colour is blended by hand by highly trained artisans who develop an expert understanding of tone and variation. Under natural lighting, these artisans pull strands of different tonalities through hackles, combining up to six or seven colours for one shade of hair. This allows for multi-dimensional results that reflect the natural complexity of real hair.
Double drawn hair extensions, Great Lengths
Full Volume
Great Lengths hair is double drawn, meaning shorter strands are removed to create consistent thickness from root to tip.
By extracting and sorting lengths, the end result is a thick, luscious body of hair that has uniform density at the ends, where it matters most.
The result is fullness, density, and balance — without the need for excess weight.
A Gentle Attachment

Keratin bond technologyThe keratin bond — the signature Great Lengths attachment — is made from hydrolysed keratin, a protein naturally found in hair. It is designed to be gentle on the natural hair, creating a secure hold without causing stress or damage to the strand.
This approach reflects the broader philosophy behind every stage of the process: performance through care, not force.
It is this combination of science and craftsmanship that defines Great Lengths — a process that values precision, patience, and care at every stage.
