Preparing for Certification

There are a number of steps in order to successfully prepare for and complete your certification in order to become a certified stylist in our network.  Please read the following carefully to fully understand the requirements.

Every stylist who attends the certification course must be a qualified hairdresser. Apprentices are not permitted to attend.

The first component of the course must be completed online. Full completion of the online segment is required to be eligible to proceed with the rest of the certification. The online course must be completed a minimum of three weeks before your in-person class.  You can see all dates here.

The final component of the course will be 2 days in person. You will learn how to install bonds onto a mannequin head on day 1 and then on a live model on day 2 all under the guidance of our top educators. You will need to find a model and order extensions a minimum of two weeks prior to the course (to see order cut off dates look here).

Steps in preparing your model and model hair

Complete the following steps a minimum of two weeks before training.

Find an appropriate model who is

  1. Available on the desired date of your live model day (will be a Monday).
  2. Is prepared to cover the cost of their extensions.
  3. Meets the requirements of extensions (hair is longer than 10cm and in healthy condition).

Set up short consultation with your model and colour match (covered in the online program) their hair for a minimum of 80 bonds.

Take payment from your model for the cost of the extensions at the time of consultation. (Your starter kit will contain your pricelist from which you can work out the cost).

The online course will direct you on how to order the extensions. Once ordered, the hair will be sent directly to you and you will need to bring it with you to the course.

What to bring to your certification

You will need to bring the following to your certification both days.

  • Your entire Great Lengths kit including your machine and the tools/products that came with it.
  • Your hairdressing tools. Including tail comb, clips, dryer and tongs.
  • Your model’s hair.
  • Lunches, drinks and snacks for the breaks throughout the day.
